So I’ve just been having the craziest craving recently for marshmallow crème! Especially since because of my agar allergy I am unable to enjoy vegan marshmallows.
well.. I know this must sound crazy because I have never even tried it before and I have to say though a lot of rice made products appeal to my palette (maybe its because I am half Asian… who knows?) I got fed up cause currently I am far from a wholefoods and I wound up buying regular marshmallow cream which happens to be free of Gelatin. I opened it up, had a little taste.. I realized (again) how much I hated regular marshmallows! okay well it took a couple tries to get used to.. Still the flavor you get from homemade marshmallows are so much better. But seem impossible to do when you cant use gelatin or agar. I guess I can give it away. Afterwards I sat around contemplating the whole thing when I remembered the vegan ricemellow crème from whole foods, I went on the internet & started checking on it a voila! No agar, yes!!! Now my dreams of making my own moon pie cookies, making rice crispies, and having s’mores with everyone (just to fit in, never really liked s’mores, weird I know.), can come true! Super excited to add this to my arsenal of dairy free alternatives. I hope you guys decide to give this a try too, or if you’ve already tried it let me know if you’ve enjoyed it.
The other baby fish look like they’re younger but this is the youngest of the bunch…I found out a few were premature, born with puffy bellies and tiny tiny.
So I was up late (almost 3 am) when I thought i saw something and checking in on my preggo fish and discovered that she gave birth. She didn’t eat any I think.. But it would’ve been cute to see them in my tiny ceramic submarine. I guess ill make another this summer. I added them to the other babies. Btw the other baby guppies are from her sisters, gave them to my Tia when they were babies. She loves them!
Oh Geez now I just have too many, if you double the amount in this picture that’s a lot. I think its about time to finally set up my 25 gallon tank.
For everyone who may be looking for vegan nacho cheese. Yes I found this and it is very delicious. Honestly I was afraid when I found it ,the color is a bit brown tinged. I heard of it online & I finally remembered to ask for it over at wholefoods. THIS is one of my favorite purchases! I like it even better than regular nacho cheese. Great flavor a little spicy kick to it. I like it hot but cold isn’t too bad. I snack on it almost all day when I start. Sometimes I eat so much I feel like my bf thinks I should stop, yeah he gives me a look. but I guess I just look too happy. So yea if you haven’t tried it you should!
oh where oh where has my submarine gone, oh where o where can you be???
Well this is not my picture of a submarine.
I carved one out of clay in ceramics class but this picture has somewhat of a likeness to it. ITS MISSING!!! I’m just a little sad if not depressed. UGH I miss my mini submarine!!!! it took me months to get it ready and im worried that someone did infact steal it, but im hoping it was just misplaced somehow. sucks being sick and a lot of things have been happening lately I guess this was just the thing to top it off huh, as well as the fact my ceramic incense skull went missing too. Anyway.. my fish is pregnant and looks about to pop, itd be nice if the babies had coverage somehow (my mini submarine decoration would have been perfect). i’m glad a lot of people admired it but I wish I too got the chance! It was little blue submarine glazed light blue with deep blue windows, and antique bronze glaze inside…
p.s. the picture of my fish is from a couple days ago she’s a lot bigger at the moment.
So because of the agar incident. I’m going to have to recheck all my milks. D:! Here are a list of my favorites I need to go through.
Out of the many milk alternatives I’ve tried these are my two top favorites flax milk is great on everything to me, taste doesn’t bother me as often as others do, healthier too, Vanilla Flax milk is creamy and sweet. This Hemp milk brand has a unique nutty flavor, somewhat thick and creamy, I love the consistency. After these, next is rice milk cause I guess its not all that healthy.. but I love it too! I usually just drink it as a dessert I love to buy chocolate rice milk when I’ve got a mega chocolate craving… I’ve tried Horchata, still not as great as the regular milk kind, ill figure it out somehow. (I just got this flavor recently)
Then almond milk for baking. It makes fluffy moist cakes all the time. YUM!
Soy is my least favorite, its in a lot of things which I feel is a bit annoying, it does have a great creamy consistency, don’t get me wrong like I’ve said sometimes the flavor of soy( its tofu flavor) just hits some wrong notes on my flavor palate. Its good, but id prefer trying other alternatives.
p.s. I haven’t tried coconut milk since I also recently found I am now allergic to coconut as well. ):
Ok so I finally tried the rice Soyatoo whip cream… I have to say I liked it slightly better than the soy because it had less of a harsh flavor, I guess the taste of tofu gets on my nerves sometimes. It was good, lighter, I do have to say the texture wasn’t as creamy as the soy. However. as if my new found allergy to agar-agar wasn’t enough (never did get to try those vegan marshmallows… guess I never will) I just found out I cant have any more Soyatoo whip… yup carrageenan. I may have just grabbed a bad box of agar but after milk I rather be safe than sorry. Seriously! I woke up the next day with swollen lips, slightly swollen tongue and cheeks and the balls of my fingers were swollen as well.
So I found out Mimicream is devoid of carrageenan amazing! Now all I have to do is locate it for once.. great. Anyways, before I found Mimicream I was surely going to give up, when whilst browsing molecular gastronomy videos (this is how I decided to make agar flan).. I found … Isi Gourmet Whip! Pictured is the regular version, there is also a small version available. Both are pretty pricey but hey. Its definitely easier making whipped cream flavors of whatever you want than having to go out of your way trying to locate some vegan whipped topping, air capsules are a little inconvenient too but I still think its worth putting on my wish list. The link is here.
Owl earrings for Kessannena, these are pretty popular im thinking I may even run out by saturday.. I’ve already sold four pairs, that was before I even put them on the holders me and my boyfriend made. Yay!
Turquoise owls, these also come in white, peach, magenta, neon yellow, and magenta. The cute little owls, come in as many colors as the turqoise ones do. Adorable!
I’m so glad I made these just in time for summer! These come in a variety of colors :) sunflowers? For the backs I went through so many designs before I ended up with this one. It also matches my business card, noticeable but not overbearing so it doesn’t distract the view from the earrings.. now all i have to do is find an earring holder.
Being allergic to dairy ive realized how much I don’t care for breakfast. Don’t get me wrong these waffles are delicious. Texture ain’t too bad. I topped it with some local honey from the otay farmers market. But yeah really!
I did enjoy the attempt to make pancakes, third time was the charm. Blueberry, yum! I did different variations, blueberry and chocolate chips, blueberry and raspberry with chocolate chips, and some with sprinkles, so happy that day.
A little sweater I made for Stimpy during the winter, to fight the cold. Made from an old emerald banana republic sweater using a store bought pattern. Soft and luxurious, right Stimpy?
